Not wishing to work as a pee man in the toilets of the CGR cinema in Angoulême, Benzaie (Benjamin Daniel) decides to propose his project of a video game store Hard Corner to his banker. Not having received a loan, the young man is depressed. On the way back, he comes face to face with his girlfriend Mireille (Laura Meissat-Hirel) using her shape to blackmail him and force him to go back to work.
This scene of a couple’s dispute takes place in front of the painted wall of the Saint-André square in Angoulême, Mémoire du XXe ciel by the comic book artist Yslaire.
The fact that this particular scene takes place in front of this wall is not insignificant since the scene tells the exact opposite of the wall which describes a love scene.
The budget of the film did not exceed 15 000 €.
Mémoire du XXe Ciel
Drawn on a wall in the square Saint-André in Angoulême, Mémoire du XXe ciel by the comic book artist Yslaire is one of the most popular painted walls in the city.
Fresco created in 1997 under the request of the city of Angoulême to the author of comics Yslaire, Mémoire du XXe ciel is one of the most famous and appreciated walls in the city. The title refers to Yslaire’s work on the myth of guardian angels.
It has the particularity of being perfectly embedded in the architecture of the city of Angoulême making the fresco fascinating:
“The order of Angoulême did not involve me on a completely unknown ground…, I knew that it was not necessary to seek to compete with the architectural framework, but on the contrary to seek the dialogue with respect and humility…” Yslaire
