Optical store

Movie Lola et ses frères Jean-Paul Rouve (2018)
Benoît (Jean-Paul Rouve) works in an optical store in downtown Angoulême. His sister Lola (Ludivine Sagnier) has just found love again, but the antics of her brother Pierre (José Garcia) challenge her daily serenity.

I’m not just an optician, I’m your big brother, damn it!

Benoît (Jean-Paul Rouve)

What could be better than a real optical store to shoot scenes taking place… in an optical store? The team of Lola et ses frères has put its cameras in Angoulême for two days. Eager to give his film a very realistic patina, Jean-Paul Rouve refused to shoot in a studio when he could find real sets. This is why he chose an optician on Rue René Goscinny to set up the fictitious store that his character runs in the story.

Delighted to be able to participate in a real movie shoot, the employees of this optical store, since attached to the Afflelou franchise, expressed afterwards their admiration towards the actors. Many were also surprised to see that they had to shoot the same sequences several times to allow the director to edit them. Ideal as such, with its beautiful wooden front, the store required few changes to appear on the screen.

Lola et ses frères is the first original screenplay co-written by Jean-Paul Rouve and writer David Foenkinos.
