Hawkins Cemetery
When it comes to finding the cemetery to shoot the funeral sequence of Will Byers (Noah Schnapp), the Duffer brothers don’t have to look far. Installed in the Atlanta studios, they used the Bethany Cemetery in Fayetteville, a location already used by the film Joyful Noise a few years earlier. A particularly moving scene from season 1 of Stranger Things where a large part of the cast is reunited.
The Demogorgon, the Upside-Down creature the kids face when it comes to freeing their friend Will, is not an original Stranger Thingscreation. The scriptwriters were inspired by the mythological figure of the same name, from Greco-Roman mythology. Quoted both by Voltaire in Plato’s Dream, by Herman Melville in Moby Dick or by Victor Hugo in his poem Au Cheval and by Dan Simmons in Olympos, the monster also holds a place of choice in the game Dungeons & Dragons, to which the heroes of Stranger Things regularly indulge. It first appeared in 1976 and has since grown to considerable importance. Its original appearance, however, differs from that of the series.
Fun fact, Millie Bobby Brown and Caleb McLaughlin, the interpreters of Eleven and Lucas Sinclair, both passed through Fayetteville before filming for Stranger Things.
Season 3 is, with 23 mentions, the richest season of Stranger Things in terms of 1980s movie references.
Bethany Cemetery
Adjoining a Methodist church built in 1900, this cemetery contains approximately 675 graves.
Fayetteville Georgia’s Main Cemetery tells part of the city’s history. Used as part of the filming of the series Stranger Things, it also appears in the credits of the film Joyful Noise in which Dolly Parton teams up with Queen Latifah. The city was founded in 1822. It takes its name from the French Marquis de Lafayette, one of the heroes of the War of Independence. She entered the history of the seventh art when Pinewood Atlanta Studios was inaugurated in 2014.

Stranger Things - Zombie Boys T01 (French Edition)
1983. Spring has sprung in the (almost) peaceful town of Hawkins. Mike, Lucas, Dustin and Will are trying to recover from their traumatic encounter with the Demogorgon. The Upside Down World continues to haunt them and tensions arise between the four boys: their group is on the verge of breaking up. Just then, Joey Kim, a new student, comes knocking on the AV club’s door with a camcorder in his hand and ideas in his head. This Spielberg apprentice wants to make a zombie movie based on Will’s drawings, and offers to act in it. This project will undoubtedly be an opportunity for the young actors to strengthen their ties and overcome the horrors they have experienced.
Following the events of the first season of the Netflix phenomenon series, this new story will delight fans of all ages!
