This superb castle of Saint-Brice is the setting for the initiation of Benjamin (Pierre Clémenti), a young virgin in the 18th century. Just arrived in the castle of his aunt the Countess of Valandry (Michèle Morgan), the 17-year-old teenager is taken in hand by the Count of Saint-Germain (Michel Piccoli) to perfect his sexual education. All the women of the place are in pamoison in front of this young ephebe.
The interior and the park of the castle can be seen in the film by Michel Deville. Shot in the middle of the 1968 revolution, this feature film starring Michèle Morgan, Michel Piccoli and Catherine Deneuve caused a sensation when it was released.
The film was awarded the Prix Louis-Delluc in 1967.
Château de Saint-Brice
Le château de Saint-Brice is located in the commune of the same name in Charente.
Built in the 14th century on the right bank of the Charente, this beautiful private residence cannot be visited but can be seen from a boat on the river.
Queen Elizabeth of England stopped here in 1980.
