Trenches
The military judge (Lantier François Cluzet) investigates the trial of Jacques Morlac (Nicolas Duvauchelle) by asking him questions about his past during the First World War. He then recalls the battles in the trenches. For the needs of the film, these scenes were shot in the quarries of Cherves Chatelars. About fifty extras played for a few days in these fictitious trenches under an artificial rain.
Jean Becker adapted the novel of the same name by Jean-Christophe Ruffin. He then confided: “I devoured The Red Necklace in one go, telling myself on every page that this story was extremely visual while being very simple to understand. I love that about movies too: sitting in a theater, being pulled along to the end of the movie without getting bored…”.
Jean Becker directs François Cluzet thirty-five years after their first collaboration on the feature film L’été meurtrier.
