The first novel in a new detective series by Marie-Bernadette Dupuy, Du sang sous les collines (Blood Under the Hills ) tells the story of how Maud Delage, an intrepid and engaging young gendarme, solves a double murder in the Vallée des Eaux Claires.
The character of Maud Delage and her investigations were created in 1995. One of his main objectives with this new saga is to make people discover his native land: the Charente. Born in 1952 in Angoulême, Marie-Bernadette Dupuy is a great lover of her department and its riches. With the investigations of Maud Delage, the author gives her readers a glimpse into the history of the region, its heritage and little-known places.
Marie-Bernadette Dupuy achieved 609,000 sales in 2020, placing her ninth in the best-seller list that year.

La Vallée des Eaux-Claires is one of the most beautiful valleys of the Charente because of its ecological wealth.
Composed of limestone cliffs, Mediterranean vegetation and a 13 km long tributary, the site of La Vallée des Eaux-Claires has unique landscapes and a diversified wildlife. The site was classified in 1941 under the law Landscape of 1930.
Moreover, the site is known worldwide for its natural climbing.
