Doctor Knock (Omar Sy)

Knock opens with a sequence filmed in La Rochelle, at the Maritime Museum. The producers chose to shoot the scene in which Omar Sy, perched on the deck of the ship Le Surcouf, taunts his pursuers on the deck of the France 1. From the beginning, director Lorraine Lévy and her teams cordoned off a large area around the docks to avoid leaks on the internet. The onlookers can nevertheless see the actors Omar Sy and Pascal Elbé.

Two hundred extras were hired from the local population to create a credible illusion. They were able to move around for four days on a real movie set and rub shoulders with the actors. A large-scale production costing 12.67 million euros, Knock unfortunately failed to convince the audience and the press. The film is now considered one of the first setbacks of the star actor Omar Sy on the big screen. Nevertheless, the population of La Rochelle remembers the boarding of the ex-employee of the SAV des emissions on the France 1, very close to the Maritime Museum of La Rochelle.

Musée Maritime de La Rochelle

The maritime museum of La Rochelle is a place of history offering three spaces to dive into the heart of the marine universe.

Installed since 1995 in the Halle à Marées, the maritime museum houses various maritime exhibitions retracing the history of La Rochelle. Along the quay are 8 ships of the heritage fleet, some of which can be visited.

The idea of a museum was born from Patrick Schnepp in 1986 who founded two associations dedicated to the preservation of La Rochelle’s maritime heritage. Over the years the association “Friends of the Maritime Museum” will have the opportunity to create various exhibitions that will be successful and will push the creation of a site dedicated to maritime history.
