Prao Restaurant
Mostly shot in La Rochelle, in authentic settings, and not in a studio, Aurore, Blandine Lenoir’s second film, in which she directs Agnès Jaoui for the first time, takes place several times in the Prao restaurant. Delighted to be able to shine on screen, the establishment did not have to undergo a facelift to prove itself credible. Even his name was kept as it was!
Important at the beginning of the story, the restaurant Prao is the scene of several humiliating scenes for Aurore, the character played by Agnès Jaoui. A determining place in the personal construction of the latter, from where she will finally emancipate herself. Of course, in reality, there is no despotic boss within the walls of the Prao, but a benevolent team full of humor, at the service of a clientele delighted to be able to enjoy a meal in a real movie set.
Sarah Suco, the actress playing Agnès Jaoui’s daughter in Aurore, has moved on to directing in 2019 with the film Les Éblouis.
Prao Restaurant
With its authentic decor and attractive menus, the Prao restaurant is one of the most popular in La Rochelle.
Ideally located on rue Saint-Nicolas, after having been created on avenue du Lazaret in the Minimes district in 2014, this restaurant highlights the know-how of Stéphanie Menou, its head chef. Driven by a desire to promote the region’s producers, she only works with fresh and seasonal products. With two dining rooms of 40 and 50 seats and a nice terrace, this establishment is just as suitable for a brunch as for a romantic dinner.
