Port Atlantique La Rochelle
Adapted from a sordid crime that occurred in the 1970s, Meurtrières exploits several key locations in La Rochelle and its region. The character of Yann, played by Gianni Giardinelli, works on the docks and the story returns to the place several times. A way for the director Patrick Grandperret to totally anchor his story in a very precise environment.
Contrary to other productions, Meurtrières was mostly shot in real locations and not in studios. A way for the director to give a maximum of authenticity to his story. The Port-Atlantique of La Rochelle is filmed from every angle at several important moments in the story.
Patrick Grandperret held three positions on Meurtrières: director, co-writer and co-director of photography.
Atlantic port of La Rochelle (industrial port)
Built between 1880 and 1890, the Grand Port Maritime de La Rochelle is the sixth infrastructure of its kind in France.
Sometimes called the port of La Pallice, because of its location in the district of the same name, the port of La Rochelle has a tonnage of 9.6 million tons and sees about 1,000 ships pass through every year, for 6,577 containers. This represents about 2% of the traffic of all French commercial ports. It also has a passenger terminal that welcomes several liners during the tourist season.
