Police Department

Movie Mineurs 27 Tristan Aurouet (2011)
Captain Descharnes (Jean-Hugues Anglade) works in a police station where he has his office, in downtown Royan. A place that the Mineurs 27 teams have created from scratch from a center dedicated to the study of languages.

“It’s okay Stan, you’re having problems right now, you want to talk about it.”

Captain Descharnes (Finnegan Oldfield)

Rather than apply to the Royan police department and use the premises of a real police station, director Tristan Aurouet preferred to create his own police station in the CAREL, the Audiovisual Center for Language Studies. On screen, the illusion is perfect. The management of CAREL having fully cooperated to allow the director to film the sequences with Jean-Hugues Anglade.

Having benefited from the financial support of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, Mineurs 27 used different places in the city center, around the stadium or at the shoreline and the beaches. Royan and its surroundings having become a large open-air movie set. As Tristan Aurouet’s wish was not to use studios, the vast majority of the scenes were shot in real places such as the Audiovisual Center for Language Studies.

Attached to the University of Poitiers, this center is dedicated to the teaching of French and certain foreign languages such as English, Spanish and German.

Located in front of the Jardins du Monde park, CAREL was founded in 1966 by Jean Noël de Lipkowski. The premises include twenty audiovisual rooms, four language laboratories, two multimedia laboratories, an auditorium, a media library, a television studio, a relaxation area and a self-service restaurant. Several conferences, film-conferences and other exhibitions are regularly organized there.
