Resident of Ville-Grand
Originally filmed in the small town of Vendôme until 2003, the production of the series Père et Maire came to Angoulême for the 4th season. Set in the fictional town of Ville-Grand, Angoulême lends many of its features to the adventures of Hugo (Christian Rauth), the mayor, and Erwan (Daniel Rialet), the town’s father.
Diane (Cécile Auclert), Hugo’s companion, is the manager of the Auberge de l’Ours. Hugo and Erwan meet there regularly, using the place as a HQ for their adventures. To shoot the interior scenes, the production chose the castle of Maumont in Magnac-sur-Touvre.
Following the death of Daniel Rialet, the interpreter of Father Erwan Vernoux, a new character, played by Sébastien Knafo, appears in season six. Despite the presence of the new father Nicolas Janvier, the series continually refers to Father Erwan in various scenes.

Castle Maumont
The castle of Maumont is a bed and breakfast located ten minutes from Angoulême in the commune of Magnac-sur-Touvre.
Built in the 16th century to replace an old building, the castle of Maumont is a place built in a Renaissance style.
Entirely restored and refurbished, the castle opens its doors to the public as a bed and breakfast.
The place has 3 rooms and 2 suites in the middle of several guest rooms, a swimming pool and a large reception room. The whole is sublimated by a tower and its chapel dating from the 14th.
