Forest
Encouraged by the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, the director Tristan Aurouet has exploited the city center of Royan, as well as Saint-Palais-sur-Mer, without forgetting to reserve a place of choice for the superb natural sites of the region, such as the national forest of La Coubre. A place usually suitable for walking or biking, not far from the shoreline, having contributed to give the region its identity, taking here a darker meaning.
It is indeed in the forest that Tristan Aurouet chose to film some of the most tragic scenes of his film, with in turn Marie-Ange Casta, Finnegan Oldfield or Jean-Hugues Anglade.”We were looking for a very specific setting for this film: a seaside town with recent constructions, wild beaches, dunes and pine forests. We searched everywhere in France and we arrived thereconfided producer Aurélia Grossmann at the time of the film’s release.
Mineurs 27 cost 3 million euros.
Forest of la Coubre
This magnificent forest of 4820 hectares extends from Ronce-les-Bains to the Phare de la Coubre.
Planted in the 19th century to contain the advancing sands, this coastal protection forest is home to many animals such as deer, roe deer and wild boar. Nicknamed the “green lung of the Pays Royannais”, it is also a great playground for mountain bike and hiking enthusiasts. It also offers great landscapes, bordering the ocean, in an ideal climate during the summer or off-season.
