Family Video
Douglasville plays a very important role in the production of Stranger Things. This is where the Duffer brothers found the Hawkins police station, at 45 Pray Street, but also the Palace, the arcade where the kids play Dragon’s Lair at the beginning of season 2. Seeking to cluster locations as much as possible, Matt and Ross Duffer took a vacant space in the same development as the Palace, on Church Street. A place that the decorators have totally shaped to resemble in every way the American video stores of yesteryear.
The teams of the series put together a collection of VHS movies from the 1970s and 1980s as well as several posters and other advertisements from the era to decorate the Family Video club. A sense of detail symptomatic of a production concerned with immersing fans in the atmosphere of a decade conducive to all fantasies. Stranger Things has also helped introduce young people to films such as Ghostbusters, Terminator, Alien or Carrie and more globally the work of Stephen King.
Maya Hawke, the interpreter of Robin Buckley, has made a grand entrance in the third season of Stranger Things. Daughter of American actors Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke, Maya Hawke has managed to attract attention in a central role. She later appeared in Once Upon a Time in… Hollywood by Quentin Tarantino.
Maya Hawke made her debut in front of the camera at the age of 20, in the film Ladyworld by Amanda Kramer after working as a model.
6503 Church St
This vacant commercial space is located in the center of the small town of Douglasville in the State of Georgia, not far from Atlanta.
Commune of 30,961 inhabitants, Douglasville was first called Skint Chestnut, in relation to the name of a landmark placed by the Amerindians. Landmark also still visible today, on a tree. Famous for hosting the filming of the cult series Stranger Things, Douglasville has also served as the backdrop for films like Hunger Games and The Founder.
