Family house
Because one is never better served than by oneself, the director Blandine Lenoir did not go far to find the main location of her first feature film. A family home belonging to relatives that the filmmaker was keen to place at the center of her plot, as she told the Charente Libre website at the time of the theatrical release: “Because this house, which belongs to friends, inspires me a lot. I spent many vacations there from my teenage years. It is an old convent. A very particular house that they pass on from generation to generation, very busy, and remained in its juice. I have changed almost nothing. The furniture was already a movie set.“
Inspired by the place but also by the surroundings, which she knows well, Blandine Lenoir also shoots almost improvised sequences, like the one taking foot on the square or the one of the bath at the beginning of the film. Filmed in September, at the end of the summer, Zouzou was a return to her roots for the director. A sunny shooting, in the middle of the old stones of a former convent, full of history.
Zouzou is the first feature film by director Blandine Lenoir.
