Anne (Anamaria Vartolomei) is a brilliant student and daughter of modest parents, manager of a small café in Saint-Amant-de-Boixe. With her family living in the school, she studied literature at the University of Angoulême.
One day, Anne finds herself pregnant. Not wishing to keep this baby, she decides to have an abortion. But in 1963 abortion was illegal.
Anne’s mother, Gabrielle, is played by the actress Sandrine Bonnaire. An actress with many ties to the Charente department. She spends many vacations with her family in the department. During an interview for the Charente Libre, Sandrine Bonnaire even said: “Angoulême, my heart city“. A love that can be felt when we see the number of shootings of the actress taking place in the department.
The shooting of L’événement took place partly in the department of Charente between August and September 2020, that is to say 2 months of shooting.

The café des sports in Saint-Amant-de-Boixe is an essential meeting place for the inhabitants of the village.
Taken over in 1973 by Roger Boucher and his wife, the sports café in Saint-Amant-de-Boixe is a real institution in the village. Put up for sale since 2014, the café is finding it difficult to find a buyer.
Also offering catering, the sports café is the meeting place of the inhabitants around a drink.
In 2020 during the Covid crisis, the café being closed, the place will be used for the shooting of the film The Event by Audrey Diwan.
