Cemetery
The inhabitants of Saint-Yriex, a pretty town in the Angoulême area, were pleasantly surprised to see Victoria Abril and the whole team of the TV movie La Loi de Gloria arrive. This one having taken possession of the local cemetery for the shooting of two determining scenes, of which the one that concludes the story.
Mostly shot in Angoulême, like the other TV movies of the saga La Loi de… La Loi de Gloria fed a lot the local economy but also hired some inhabitants to play the extras. In spite of the tragic character of the plot, Victoria Abril and her partners were able to appreciate the hospitality of the Angoumoisines and spend good moments. The director Didier Le Pêcheur had the opportunity to return to the series, after having directed the TV movie La Loi de Simon with Daniel Prévost and the three episodes of the mini-series La Loi de Barbara, with Josiane Balasko. A Franco-Belgian co-production, the TV movie series La Loi de… drew large audiences on France 3.
Director Didier Le Pêcheur has also written two feature films, Ô Jérusalem and Harrison’s Flowers, by Éli Chouraqui.
Saint-Yrieix-sur-Charente
This is the main cemetery in the town of Saint-Yrieix-sur-Charente, in the urban area of Angoulême.
Known since Antiquity, as the many remains found attest, Saint-Yrieix is popular for its market gardening. Viticulture also holds a large place in the local economy. Among the monuments, the village can boast of having several exceptional places such as the Château de la Pouyade, the Logis de l’Épineuil, the Logis de Fonstatier and the Domaine de Fontchadière. Not to mention the Notre-Dame-de-la-Route chapel and the parish church of Vénat.
