Castle Square
In the summer of 1919, the military judge Lantier (François Cluzet) goes to a disused barracks to interrogate Jacques Morlac (Nicolas Duvauchelle). A former poilu and war hero, he caused a scandal at a July 14 party. Risking a very heavy sentence, he tells his version of the war, including his commitment to revolutionary communist theses.
After many questions, Lantier understands that Guillaume, Morlac’s dog, is the key to the enigma. They would have experienced horrible things, like brothers in arms.
It is on this place of Montbron in Charente that William howls all his drunk and where stands a castle built from the eleventh century.
Two dogs, Jagger and Karma, took on the role of William. Two beaucerons having played the scenes in the trenches, the other for the scenes in the prison.
Rampe de la Barbacanne
In the past, la rampe de la Barbacanne was the entrance to the fortified town of Montbron.
This medieval street links the lower town and the 15th century castle.
While walking along the old houses of the city in this street, you will also discover the Saint-Anthoine fountain. Its waters supplied a large part of the town and were probably used by the pilgrims on their way to Compostela.
