Bullring of Antequera

“Are you not entertained?”
John Hartley (Dwayne Johnson)
As John Hartley (Dwayne Johnson) and Nolan Booth (Ryan Reynolds) track down “The Bishop” (Gal Gadot) around the world, they often find themselves in trouble. Among his misadventures, he involuntarily underwent a small bullfight in the Antequera bullring located near Malaga.
The special agent is knocked down by a bull in the middle of the ring, under the amused eyes of the spectators.
In fact, the filming in this venue required 300 extras, digitally replicated many times to give the impression that the stands were full.
Shooting was supposed to take place in November 2020, but due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it has been postponed to May 2021. While most of the locals were thrilled to participate in this event, they unfortunately had to do without the trio of headliners. Their footage was shot in the studio beforehand. The extras saw red.
Netflix shelled out nearly $200 million for Red Notice, a record for the platform.
Bullring
Also known as the Bullring, the Plaza de Toros de Antequera, near Málaga, is a mecca for Spanish bullfighting.
Inaugurated in 1848, the Antequera bullring quickly became an emblem of Spain. The building was quickly completed, but it had to keep its wooden upper stands until 1983.
