Also known as the Bullring, the Plaza de Toros de Antequera, near Málaga, is a mecca for Spanish bullfighting.
Inaugurated in 1848, the Antequera bullring quickly became an emblem of Spain. The building was quickly completed, but it had to keep its wooden upper stands until 1983.
Following the purchase of the premises by the City Council in 1980, a total refurbishment, both inside and out, corrected this detail. In addition to the contested bullfighting events, the bullring also hosts concerts, exhibitions and film shoots.
