The narrator

For the purposes of the investigation, Anna-Fanély Simon asks her friend Connor to join her in Cognac to help her solve the mystery. Posing as a rich brandy buyer, he gets an appointment with a dealer of over-aged cognac at the Saintes bullring.

The plot takes place in autumn, and the arena is flooded, creating a small pond. Arriving at 3:30 pm sharp, Connor finds himself alone in the ancient monument with this mysterious man. Not finding it, he begins to search the four corners of the building, before finding it drowned in the small mass of water formed by the rain.

Connor pays 3 € for his ticket thanks to a student discount of 50%, but the real price in the album is 4 €.

Amphithéâtre gallo-romain de Saintes

The Gallo-Roman amphitheater of Saintes (also called arena of Saintes) is a site not to be missed during your visit of the city.

Saintes, formerly called Mediolanum during the Roman occupation, was probably the capital of the province of Great Aquitaine. As a result, many monuments were erected there. The amphitheater of Mediolanum is one of the earliest amphitheaters in Gaul.

Today, in spite of the disappearance of infrastructures, the vestiges of the amphitheater show a faithful image of what it could be in its glorious time.

If you come to visit the monument in autumn, you may be lucky enough to discover it flooded with water, creating a magnificent little pond in the middle of this grandiose site.
