Airport
The shooting of Jurassic World has largely exploited the formidable landscapes of Hawaii, as for the three Jurassic Park films. Colin Trevorrow, the director hired to complete the project, is also taking advantage of several facilities in New Orleans, including the Louis Armstrong International Airport. It is indeed in the city that the production is based. Less expensive and with an infrastructure that is perfectly adapted to such an important film, the city of Louisiana replaces Los Angeles for the inauguration of the new franchise based on the Jurassic Park trilogy.
No set-up is required to film the scene in which Judy Greer says goodbye to her children in Louis Armstrong Airport. A building whose modern and avant-garde architecture gives the sequence a side perfectly in line with the aesthetic intentions of the film as a whole.
Jurassic World is the first film in the Jurassic Park saga to use a dinosaur created from scratch, the indominus rex.
Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport
Named in 2001 in honor of New Orleans jazzman Louis Armstrong, this airport handles more than 7.7 million passengers every year.
Built in 1946, this airport is one of the largest in the southern United States. It was named until 2001 after John Moisant, an aviator who founded an air show company. The man killed himself during a demonstration on December 31, 1910 at the very place where the airport was built. The place is also known for having been the scene, on July 9, 1982, of the accident of Pan Am flight 759. A tragedy that claimed 153 victims.
