A belated sequel to Tony Scott’s 1986 cult film, Top Gun: Maverick enjoyed a comfortable $140 million budget. Worn by Tom Cruise, Miles Teller and Jennifer Connelly, the film also sees the return of Val Kilmer in the iconic role of Iceman. Directed by Joseph Kosinski, Top Gun: Maverick was produced under real conditions, with minimal use of digital effects. It premiered at CinemaCon on April 28, 2022 and then at the Cannes Film Festival on May 18, 2022, in the presence of Tom Cruise. The latter having been awarded a special Palme d’Or for the occasion.
