Movie Top Gun Tony Scott (1986)

Fantrippers

Inspired by an article titled Top Guns, published in California magazine by Ehud Yonay, about Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in San Diego, Top Gun sees Tony Scott lead Tom Cruise for the first time. Filmed in San Diego itself but also in Oakland and Chicago, the film, despite rather mixed reviews, was a huge success at the box office, immediately making its main actor a planetary star. Top Gun thus brought in 353 million dollars worldwide, for a budget of “only” 15 million. Berlin’s Take My Breath Away, composed by Giorgio Moroder and Tom Whilock, won the Oscar for Best Original Song in 1987.
