Created in 2005 by Greg Daniels after the British series of the same name by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, The Office was also supervised by them. They wrote the pilot and the ninth episode of the third season. Presented in the form of a mockumentary, the show adopts handheld camera shots, like a reality show, with frequent interludes during which the characters confide their feelings on camera. Rather coldly received at the beginning, The Office really took off in its second season and soon became a cult. Praised for its humor, the performances of its actors, its writing and its pertinent reflections on the world of work, the series won numerous awards during its nine seasons.
