Suite Punta del Este is a work of tango nuevo composed by Astor Piazzolla for accordion and string orchestra. Although it is often played in concert, this composition has only been recorded once during a performance at the Municipal Theater of Caracas in Venezuela, on April 2, 1981.
The piece is notably famous for being used in the film 12 Monkeys released in 1995, but also as the theme song of the program Rendez-vous avec X on France Inter and in the fourteenth episode of the eighteenth season of The Simpsons, Yokel Chords.
