Entirely composed by Freddie Mercury, Princes of the Universe is one of the key pieces of the soundtrack of the film Highlander by Russell Mulcahy. The title having long been the one that the production of the feature film used during filming, before adopting that of Highlander. While the original version contains a Brian May guitar solo, the one used in the film does not. Not released as a single in Great Britain, Princes of the Universe was only available in the United States, Canada, New Zealand and Japan. The British had to wait for the release of the Greatest Video Hits II to listen to it.
