Music Penny Lane The Beatles (1967)

Fantrippers

A single from The Beatles’ album Magical Mystery Tour, Penny Lane was first released in the United States on February 13, 1967.

Composed by Paul McCartney in reference to the street, but also to the neighborhood where John Lennon lived as a child, this song is one of the most popular in the vast repertoire of the Beatles. A refrain in the form of a guided tour of the avenue in Liverpool, it evokes several people and places that fans visit today in an attempt to unlock its secrets. Penny Lane was taken over by Paul Mauriat, Judy Collins, Jane Birkin and Laurent Voulzy. The character of Kate Hudson in the film Almost Famous by Cameron Crowe is also called Penny Lane in reference to the Beatles.
