Telling the story of a lonely man wishing to realize his childhood dream, namely to sail on the Atlantic Ocean with a sailboat, Liberté-Oléron was released in France on June 20, 2001. Written by Denis Podalydès and Bruno Podalydès and directed by the latter, the feature film also stars Guilaine Londez and Eric Elmosnino. It also benefited from the know-how of Theo Angelopoulos, the appointed director of photography of Yorgos Arvanitis.
