Steven Grant, a discreet employee in a souvenir store, suddenly suffers from memory loss and is haunted by visions of another life. Living in London, he finds himself in spite of himself embarked in an adventure guided by the Egyptian god of the moon: Khonshu.

Steven Grant’s apartment

Steven Grant (Oscar Isaac) lives in a simple apartment in the heart of the London streets. Although the action takes place in London, it is actually the streets of Budapest near Madàch Square. His apartment is located at 17 Asbóth Street. The square was created in 1937. Today it is protected as a historical monument of the city. Marc Spector has 3 personalities, there is obviously him, but he also has the personality of Steven Grant and that of Jake Lockley.

Museum of Fine Arts in Budapest

Steven Grant (Oscar Isaac) is an unassuming employee of the souvenir store in the London museum. Steven discovers in the course of his little life, his second personality of Marc Spector, as well as his troubles. In reality it is not London that we see on the screen but the Museum of Fine Arts in Budapest. Built following the Millennium Festivities in 1896, the museum was inaugurated on December 1, 1906. Small alpine village

Steven Grant (Oscar Isaac) wakes up in a small alpine village where he is pursued by armed men. The production teams decided to go to the small village of Szentendre in Hungary and more precisely to Fő tér, the main square of the village. Renowned for its museums and art galleries, Szentendre is a popular city for tourists visiting Budapest. Ethan Hawke, the actor playing Arthur Harrow the main antagonist, would have signed the role without even reading the script.

Car chase

Steven (Oscar Isaac) escapes from a small alpine village in a pastry truck on a small winding road, pursued by armed men. The scene was partly shot on a small serpentine road north of the village of Osilnica in Slovenia. Located in the heart of the Dinaric Alps is the small village of Osilnica. 327 inhabitants live there all year round. The first episode The Goldfish Problemreceived a score of 95% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Steakhouse

Steven (Oscar Isaac) has a date at the steakhouse, with a stranger, to enjoy the best steak in town. The grill restaurant is actually the Tróger Gasztró Bisztró located in Budapest and not in London as the plot of the series suggests. In the TV show, Marc Spector has a dissociative identity disorder. To perfectly play the scenes where Marc/Steven communicates with his alter ego, Oscar Isaac said in an interview for Insider for asking his brother, Michael Benjamin Hernandez, to play opposite him.

Central London Storage

Steven (Oscar Isaac) decides to go to Central London Storage to find the storage unit to which he has the keys. The Central London Storage used in the series is located far away from London. In reality, the teams used an old disused building accessible from Egry József utca in Budapest, more than 1,700 km from the British capital. It was in the past a former educational building known as BME V2. The most observant will have noticed that the door of Marc’s box has a QR code. It refers to the number 33 of Werewolf by Night, the second comic book where Moon Knight appears.

Cult of Âmmit

Steven is kidnapped by two fake policemen, taking him to the lair of the cult of Âmmit, where Arthur Harrow lives. Not having filmed in the land of the queen, the production teams set up shop in front of the old disused Csepel Művek factory. The sequence where Arthur makes visit the district was filmed in the Nagykalapács utca street. Built in 1892 in Csepel, the factory originally produced ammunition. Moon Knightis the 33rd Marvel production to take place in the MCU.

Vajdahunyad Castle

The center with the glass pyramid is an addition of the production teams. A tribute to the castle of Hunedoara, the one that inspired Dracula, located in Transylvania, the Vajdahunyad castle was built in 1896. The trailer of the Moon Knight TV show recorded 75 million views in the first 24 hours on Youtube.

Great Pyramid of Giza

Khonsu decides to provoke a solar eclipse to convene a council of Egyptian gods within the Great Pyramid of Giza. The pyramid of Cheops, also called the Great Pyramid of Giza, is a monument built by the ancient Egyptians more than 4,500 years ago. Even if a large part of the action takes place in Egypt, the technical teams did not go to the land of the pyramids. The filming of the series was carried out largely in Jordan, including the Wadi Rum desert to recreate an Egyptian setting.

Anton Mogart’s domain

Layla (May Calamawy) takes Marc (Oscar Isaac) to the home of Anton Mogart (Gaspard Ulliel), an old friend who owns the Senfu sarcophagus. Nádasdy Castle in Hungary was used as the setting for Anton Mogart’s estate. Designed by István Linzbauer and Alajos Hauszmann, Nádasdy Castle is a manor house built between 1873 and 1876. The two glass pyramids were added by the production teams. These two pyramids are very reminiscent of the Louvre pyramid, but in reality they have a scenaristic objective since they allow Marc to communicate with Steven through their reflection.

Desert

Psychiatric Hospital

In the post-credits scene we discover Arthur Harrow (Ethan Hawke) leaving the psychiatric hospital to join a limousine. The outdoor scene of the hospital was shot between hall D and hall E of Hungexpo in Budapest. The Hugexpo congress center in Budapest, which consists of 8 exhibition halls, has been owned by the French group GL Events since 2005. To locate the hospital in London, the post-production teams of Moon Knight have digitally added the Gherkin district to the skyline.
