Glasgow, the Gotham City of The Batman…

The Daily Record, a Scottish newspaper, reported on 12 January sensational news for The Batman fans: the filming will take place in Glasgow.

According to a source close to the production, the city was chosen for its perfect architecture to represent Gotham City. The team is expected on site in February.

After the first images filmed in London, a large part of the shooting will take place in Glasgow, the UK’s third largest city. This important European financial centre will take on the appearance of an American megalopolis for a few shots.

Although most fans agree that Gotham City is actually New York City, which is actually one of its nicknames, the directors of the Dark Knight’s various feature films have, in the past, already departed from this rule. Thus, Christopher Nolan chose Chicago, New York, Pittsburgh or London, while Tim Burton preferred Warner Bros. studios in Burbank, California.

Glasgow, meanwhile, has already hosted other films before The Batman. World War Z with Brad Pitt and his famous panic scene in Philadelphia, Avengers: Endgame, God Help the Girl and Trainspotting.
