Jules Maigret is a character created by the novelist Georges Simenon. The books and other short stories have been the subject of numerous television and film adaptations.

Jules Amédée François Maigret was born in 1887 in Saint-Fiacre in Allier.

A lover of blanquette de veau, this imposing man was police commissioner at the 36 quai des orfèvres.

Maigret was the subject of 56 novels or short stories written by the Belgian writer between 1931 and 1972. If most of his investigations take place in Paris, he was also brought to follow cases throughout France.
