In 1994, when she thought she had lost the manuscript of Baise-moi, a friend presented her book to the publisher Florent Massot who published it. It was a success, with several hundred thousand copies sold.
She went on to write Les chiennes savantes, Les jolies choses and her collection Mordre de travers in 1997.
She co-directed the adaptation of her novel Baise-moi in 2000 with Coralie Trinh and also Bye Bye Blondie, eleven years later.
In 2015, she began work on the Vernon Subutex trilogy, which she adapted into a comic book with Luz in 2020.
