    Rodolphe Töpffer is considered the “inventor” of the comic strip. He began to create stories articulating text and images in 1827.

    Four years later he published L’histoire de Monsieur Jabot. Then came Les amours de monsieur Vieux Bois, Histoire de monsieur Crépin, Docteur Festus, Monsieur Pencil, Histoire d’Albert, Histoire de monsieur Cryptogame and Monsieur Trictrac.
