Kirsty MacColl is a British singer born in 1959 in Croydon and died in 2000 in Cozumel.

Kirsty MacColl and The Pogues have a long history. The singer is the daughter of Ewan MacColl who wrote the song Dirty Old Town for the band.

Kirsty performed Fairytale of New York with Pogues leader Shane MacGowan in 1987.

The English singer also worked with Daniel Balavoine and the Smiths. On her own, she sang What Do Pretty Girls Do and released four albums Desperate Character, Kite, Electric Landlady and Tropical Brainstorm.

She died tragically in a diving accident while trying to save her son in 2000 in Cozumel, Mexico.
