After studying at the fine arts schools of Castres and Perpignan, Julien Maffre moved to Angoulême and worked at the Atelier Sanzot and the Marquis.
In 2008, he published Le tombeau d’Alexandre, a series of three albums with Isabelle Dethan, then La banque with Pierre Boisserie and Philippe Guillaume, Stern with Frédéric Maffre and La cour des miracles with Stéphane Piatzszek.
