Artist Jacques Demy

Jacques Demy is a French director, screenwriter, dialogue writer, lyricist, producer and actor born in 1931 and died in 1990.

It was at the end of 1944 that Jacques Demy bought his first camera. He then directed films and documentaries such as Le sabotier du Val de Loire.

He also made animated films of a few minutes. He also took courses at the School of Fine Arts in Nantes. He works with Paul Grimault, the animation filmmaker.

From 1959, he devoted himself to the realization of feature films such as Lola, Les sept pêchés capitaux, La baie des anges, Les parapluies de Cherbourg ou Les demoiselles de Rochefort.

Then came Le joueur de flûte et Peau d’âne mais aussi Une chambre en ville, Parking ou Trois places pour le 26.

He was the companion of Agnès Varda with whom he had a son, Mathieu.
