Born Amantine Aurore Lucile Dupin de Francueil, George Sand grew up in Nohant. She met Jules Sandeau in 1831. With him, she began to write as a journalist but also novels, notably Rose and Blanche.
Her first book that she wrote alone, Indiana, she imagined it in Nohant. Dozens of books followed, such as Valentine, Simon, La mare au diable or La petite Fadette.
