In 1981, George Michael wrote the song Careless Whisper, with Andrew Ridgeley, a friend he met at school for a few years.
The following year, the duo released Wham Rap! (Enjoy What You Do), which became their band name, Wham! This was followed by Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go and Last Christmas. The group broke up in 1986.
George Michael then released his first single I Want Your Sex. It was an immediate success. The albums Faith, Listen Without Prejudice, Older, Songs from the Last Century and Patience followed.
