Dominique Bertail attended the Fine Arts School of Angoulême. He then met Thierry Smolderen with whom he published several albums of the series L’enfer des Pelgram in 1998 and Ghost Money 2008.
He made two volumes of Mondo Reverso, Paris 2119 with Zep and Omaha Beach June 6, 1944 with Séverine Tréfouël and Jean-David Morvan. With the latter and Madeleine Riffaud, he created Madeleine résistante, Goscinny prize in 2022.
