Art Spiegelman

Art Spiegelman is an American comic book writer born in Stockholm in 1948.

Born to a Polish Jewish mother and a Polish Jewish father, Art Spiegelman decided to tell the story of their lives in Maus, an album published in 1986. It tells the story of his father’s life in a concentration camp, where the characters have animal features. This comic book is the only comic book to have won the Pulitzer Prize in 1992.

Grand prix d’Angoulême in 2011, he has also published A l’ombre des tours mortes, MetaMaus, Breakdowns or La nuit en enfer.
