Although her mother gave her a notebook to write in, it was her sister who introduced her to Sherlock Holmes and Arsène Lupin. She was able to deconstruct the often well-crafted plots of Conan Doyle and Leblanc.

Agatha Christie enlisted as a nurse during the First World War and thus discovered potions and other useful poisons for her novels. It was during this period that she wrote her first book, The Mysterious Case of Styles.

But it was not until 1920 that a publisher published this first text in which Hercule Poirot appeared. It was with The Murder of Roger Ackroyd that she finally experienced success in 1926.

She wrote numerous stories with Hercule Poirot, Miss Marple, Superintendent Battle and Tommy & Tuppence Beresford.
