Top of the Rock
In The Adjustment Bureau, after their long escape from the men of the bureau, David (Matt Damon) and Elise (Emily Blunt) find themselves trapped at the top of the Top of the Rock.
Admire the view from this incredible location from which you can enjoy the city’s buildings as well as Central Park. For many, this is the most beautiful vantage point in New York City. You can also dine at the Rainbow Room, a few floors down, but be aware that the magnificent panorama affects the bill.

Empire State Building
In King Kong, King Kong’s ascent of the Empire State Building is one of the most famous scenes in world cinema. Although the building and the film are inseparable, the shooting took place in a studio and the roof of the building where the gorilla takes the beautiful Ann Darrow (Fay Way) is quite different from reality. For the anecdote, the directors, Merian Caldwell Cooper and Ernest Beaumont Schoedsack, play the pilots of the planes fighting the huge primate. We can see a symbolism where the creators put their own creature to death even if, as one of the speakers says, they are not, “It was beauty killed the beast.” The King Kong metal frame used for this mythical scene was auctioned for more than 134,000 euros in 2009.
Because of its geographical position and legendary fame, the Empire State Building offers the most famous incredible viewpoint in New York. Since the building opened in 1931, more than 110 million people have enjoyed the 360-degree view of the city and neighboring New Jersey.

Rooftop of the Metropolitan Museum of Art
In Gossip Girl, the famous steps of this iconic museum serve as a lunch spot for the Queen of the high school and her court. For many years, Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) held this title, then Jenny Humpfrey (Taylor Momsen) took over. It is forbidden to sit higher than the Queen, this position symbolizes her superiority.
Want to see Central Park in a different way? Embellished with numerous works of art, the roof of the immense Museum of Art will offer you an incredible view of the green lung of the city and the buildings in the background. And if you go there during the summer months, you can try one of the cocktails at the Cantor Roof Garden Bar. Please note, however, that it is only open to the public from 11 am and closes one hour before the museum.

High Line 34th Street
In Uncoupled, Michael Lawson (Neil Patrick Harris) surprises his ex Colin McKenna (Tuc Watkins) in his new apartment from the High Line. Cancelled by Netflix, the series is finally taken over by the channel Showtime.
This former railway line was gradually transformed into a suspended park, first at the initiative of the local residents, then by the town. Opened in 2009, the 2.3 km long High Line runs through the Meatpacking district and Chelsea and offers views of Manhattan and the Hudson River that are as magnificent as they are unique. The rails are still outcropping in places and the vegetation is inspired by the weeds and wild plants that had colonized the area when it was abandoned. The view from the rooftop bar of The Standard High Line, the superb boutique hotel overlooking the entrance to this green coulee, is also fabulous.

Sutton Place Park North
In Manhattan, the location of the film’s world-famous poster, where Isaac and Mary are facing the Queensboro bridge. Don’t look for the bench on which the main characters are sitting. It had been brought specially by the production at the entrance of the park because the angle of view was better to shoot the scene!
Although it is impossible to sit on the same bench as Woody Allen and Diane Keaton, you will find some lower down to contemplate this legendary view of the Queensboro Bridge from this small square.

Roosevelt Island Tramway
In Spider-Man, from the roof of the cabin, the Green Goblin wants to force Spider-Man to choose between saving the lives of children or Mary-Jane Watson (Kirsten Dunst). But the Spider-Man is smart. With your Metrocard, don’t hesitate to take this cable car to get a unique view of the city and the Queensboro Bridge.
Take a little height for the price of a subway ride. Since 1976, this cable car has been connecting Manhattan to Roosevelt Island along the Queensboro Bridge, offering a close-up view of this metal building, the East River and a few buildings.

Brooklyn Bridge Park
In Friends with Benefits, the bridge and Manhattan are in the background during the night party on this pier. This is where Dylan meets an unwelcoming Shaun White. The two-time Olympic half-pipe champion plays his own part.
From this park located at the foot of the Brooklyn Bridge, the view of the skyline of southern Manhattan is incredible at sunset. Enjoy an ice cream from the Brooklyn Ice Factory or a drink at the Buzz Bar on Fulton Ferry Pear Pier.

East River State Park
In Master of None, the BBQ where Dev Shah (Aziz Ansari) and his cousin Navid eat pork sandwiches, despite the latter’s strict Muslim upbringing, is actually in Smorgasburg. This food truck rally takes place every Saturday from April to October in Williamsburg next to East River Park. A great opportunity to discover flavours from all over the world with a magnificent view of the skyline.
On this bank of the East River, one can admire the Empire State Building, the Chrysler Building and more generally Midtown. This is where New Yorkers enjoy watching the Independence Day fireworks on July 4, while the area hosts an extraordinary food-truck rally every Saturday from April to November. Feel free to get there from Manhattan by taking the East River Ferry. The ride from 34th St or Wall Street costs only $2.75 and promises an unusual view of the city.

Staten Island Ferry
In Sex and the City, it is during a crossing with this ferry that Charlotte announces that she will get married this year.
The sea link to Staten Island offers a beautiful view of southern Manhattan and passes as close as possible to the Statue of Liberty. A half-hour drive away from home. And besides, it’s free!
