Home Alone 2. The Plaza in New York City offers fans the chance to relive scenes from the movie...

Movie
To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the film, the famous New York hotel is offering fans of the film the chance to stay in the luxury hotel as Kevin McCallister and visit several locations from the filming.

Home Alone 2, Catching up at the Plaza…

Just remember. On November 20, 1992, the film Home Alone 2 was released in the United States and two years after the first part was a worldwide success, totalling $358,994,850 in receipts worldwide.

This time, the action no longer takes place in the McCallister house in Chicago, but in New York City. As the family prepares to board the plane to spend Christmas in Florida, this time being careful not to forget Kevin (Macaulay Culkin), he gets on the wrong plane and flies alone to the Big Apple.

The young boy lives many adventures in the city that never sleeps and it is still possible today to go to many places where the shooting took place, which we evoke in our New York Guide of the 1000 cult places of films, series, music, comics, novels.

Meeting with Donald Trump

Still as resourceful as in the first film, Kevin manages this time to stay in the mythical Plaza Hotel where he meets Donald Trump in the lobby. The current American president was the owner of the premises at the time. He bought the Plaza in 1988 for $407 million, saying at the time: “I didn’t buy a building, I bought a masterpiece”. He sold it in 1995 for $325 million to Troy Richard Campbell and Prince Al Waleed.

But the most striking scenes in this luxurious establishment take place in the 411 suite that Kevin rents using his father’s credit card. The young boy does not deprive himself with the numerous services offered to the customers, notably making an orgy of desserts or ordering a limousine while escaping the suspicion of Mr Hector (Tim Curry), the hotel concierge.

To celebrate the film’s 25th anniversary, the Plaza is offering fans the chance to relive scenes from the film as Kevin McCallister through a “Live like Kevin” package.

Suite, ice cream, photos and backpack

On the program: a room in the establishment where you will be served a free mountain of ice cream like the one the hero is reveling in while watching an old gangster movie, a walk in Central Park with photo shoots at several locations and a backpack bearing the effigy of the movie containing the DVDs of the two movies as well as the Blu-Ray of the second part.

And for total immersion, several options can be added to this package to walk in Kevin’s footsteps: an express access to the top of the Empire State Building, a 4-hour limousine ride, or even hiring professional photographers.

In November 2017, you can even enjoy a “back to the 90s” menu in Plaza’s Todd English Restaurant while a Kevin McCallister lookalike contest is held on November 27.

However, all of this comes at a price. Available from December 1, 2017 to October 29, 2018, the basic offer costs $895. Not far from the amount of the bill that Kevin leaves in room service and that his father discovers with amazement at the end …
