1. The Metropolitan Museum of Art – the steps of Gossip Girl

The famous steps of this iconic museum serve as a lunch spot for the High School Queen and her court. For many years, Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) held this title, then Jenny Humpfrey (Taylor Momsen) took over. It is forbidden to sit higher than the Queen, this position symbolizes her superiority.

2. Plaza Hotel

It is in front of the Plaza Hotel that Chuck Bass (Ed Westwick) waits for Blair to offer her flowers and jewels, but especially to tell her for the first time the famous three words and eight letters she has been waiting for so long: “I love you”.

Chuck’s hotel really exists and you will find many places seen on the screen: the velvet armchairs, the stairs, the rooftop… If you decide to have a drink there, you will discover that the cocktail menu is inspired by the series. Ed Westwick almost never appeared on “Gossip Girl. The creators thought he looked like a serial killer, which was not compatible with the romantic side of the character.

4. The exterior of the Van Der Woodsen Penthouse

The Van Der Woodsen family penthouse is one of the most recurring locations. Lily, the mother, later married Bart Bass (Robert John Burke), Chuck’s father. After his death, she will form a new couple with Rufus Humphrey (Matthew Settle).

5. Constance Billard and St Jude – The school of Gossip Girl

The facade of the New York Museum of Art is used to represent the facades of the Constance Billard School and Saint Jude School, the high schools of Manhattan’s golden youth. From the very first episodes, these walls house the worst plots of children from wealthy families ready to tear each other apart, while Gossip Girl revels in all the gossip. Gossip Girl’s identity was originally unintentionally revealed in the first episode of the series. The scene was specially cut to preserve the mystery until the end.

6. Angel’s Tunnel

Overview: Chuck and Blair get married in theAngel’s Tunnel, right across from the Bethesda Fountain. This long-awaited moment is not really coming true for the most romantic reason, it’s to avoid one having to testify against the other. The two lovers get married just in time to be picked up by the police. Who’s the Gossip Girl star you never see? Kristen Bell. The interpreter of Veronica Mars or Ella Bishop in Heroes lends her voice to the famous blogger during the six seasons without appearing on the screen.

7. Archibald Manor

The Archibald family lives in this mansion. The father loses him for a while and Nate goes there illegally in order not to leave his childhood home completely. The residence returns to the family later. In reality, the painter Marc Chagall lived in this building between 1941 and 1948, as did Michael Jackson in the 1990s. It was sold for $39 million in 2018.

8. Humphrey Loft – A strong link to Gossip Girl

Many characters have come to live in the Humphrey loft: Georgina (Michelle Trachtenberg) and her baby, Nate Archibald (Chace Crawford), Ivy Dickens (Kaylee Defer)… The home of New York’s only non-elite family is a kind of refuge for lost or tormented souls. Located at the foot of the Manhattan Bridge, it offers an exceptional and often photographed viewpoint. Initially, Ed Westwick had auditioned for the role of Nate, while Chace Crawford wanted to play Chuck.

The Waldorf residence is one of the most luxurious and should be, just like its residents. Eleanor (Margaret Colin) and her daughter Blair experience some drama, but also moments of happiness, thanks in particular to Dorota (Zuzanna Szadkowski), the servant who is immensely loyal to the family.

10. Dylan’s Candy Bar

In episode 15 of season 2, Dan (Penn Badgley) accompanies Vanessa (Jessica Szohr) to buy a gift for Nate in this three-story sweet store. A must-see stop for sweets lovers and fans of the series! The store the characters visit unfortunately closed in 2021, but other establishments exist throughout the city, notably on Hudson Yards or at 231 Hudson Street. Naturally, Leighton Meester is blonde. She dyed her hair brown before auditioning for the role of Blair Waldorf.

11. Lotte New York Palace

During the work on their penthouse, the Van Der Woodsen family stays in this hotel owned by Bart, Chuck’s father. It is here that Dan and Nate, the two rivals, find themselves face to face while waiting for Serena (Blake Lively). Commissioned in 1882 by Henry Villard, a financier who had made his fortune in the railways, the building was inspired by Italian Renaissance architecture. A 55-storey skyscraper was added to it in 1974 when the hotel project began.
