Warner Bros Harry Potter Studio Tour: Withdraw your money at Gringotts Bank

This coming April 6th, the Warner Bros Harry Potter Studio Tour will house a new section: Gringotts Wizarding Bank

Gringotts Wizarding Bank, Harry Potter’s savings account

We all remember the scene: the young Harry Potter discovers that he’s a sorcerer and does a bit of shopping in Diagon Alley with the good Hagrid.  Harry needs some money and Hagrid takes him to Gringotts Bank where Harry’s parents had opened a modest savings account for their son, consisting of piles of glistening coins.

This mythical scene was shot at Australia House, a building belonging to the Australian authorities and difficult to visit.  To remedy that, Warner Bros Studio Tour in Leavesden decided to expand the complex, already colossal, reserved for the Making of Harry Potter.  Forbidden Forest, Hogwarts, Hagrid’s house, 4 Privet Drive and very soon the famous Gringotts Bank.

This new 1,500 m2 extension will add some extra  time to this already incredible tour dedicated to the most famous of wizards.

In addition to the bank, visitors will be able to go into the Lestrange family vault where the Gryffindor sword lies and even the Hufflepuff cup.  This addition will be the most significant so far.  It was carried out by production designer Stuart Craig’s team, construction manager Paul Hayes and the head mechanic Pierre Bohanna, all part of the original team for the series of movies.

Might we read on the bank doors these famous lines from the novel by J.K. Rowling ?

“Enter, stranger, but take heed
Of what awaits the sin of greed
For those who take, but do not earn
Must pay most dearly in their turn
So if you seek beneath our floors
A treasure that was never yours
Thief, you have been warned, beware
Of finding more than treasure there.”
