Angoulême, a character in the next Wes Anderson movie

The American director came to check out locations for his next film that he’ll shoot in Charente, an area in southwestern France.

Wes Anderson loves Angoulême

The Grand Budapest Hotel, The Royal Tenenbaums, or The Darjeeling Limited, a list of the director’s films to which will soon be added a 50s musical comedy filmed in the streets of Angoulême.

Wes Anderson was there during the month of July, 2018 to check out possible shooting sites for his next film and claimed to be amazed by the old cobblestone streets and the topography of the town.  It’s not only to use Angoulême as a décor, but he also affirms wanting to make it an actual character in the feature film.

Since 2004, the city has accommodated numerous movie sets including Mammuth, Victoria Bonnot, or Pierre and Marie.  The city of Angoulême will not actually be mentioned in the film by Wes Anderson, the intrigue will take place in an imaginary town.
