The official address of the apartment and detective agency of Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) is 485 W 48th St, in the Hell’s Kitchen district. But the facade and lobby of the building were filmed much higher up on the Upper West Side. As for the interior scenes, they were shot at 460 W 46th St., St. John’s, Newfoundland. Same thing for Trish Walker’s (Rachael Taylor) apartment, if it’s supposed to be at TriBeCa, the building filmed for the exterior shots is at 465 West 23rd St., in the heart of the city.

Luke Cage (Mike Colter) lives above his bar. His bedroom window looks out onto Avenue B, on the left corner of the first floor of the building. Sitting on the stairs of the building opposite, Jessica spies on him for a while, then pushes the door of the establishment. She had several drinks there before spending the night with him. Vazac’s, also called 7B since it is located at the corner of 7th St and B Av, is typical of New York and has been filmed many times.

Luke, under Kilgrave’s control, and Jessica face off in a huge fight in this incredible location. This Gothic synagogue dating from 1849 was abandoned when the Spanish artist Angel Orensanz decided to restore it in 1986 and turned it into an art centre. You can discover many exhibitions and visual performances playing with the architecture of the place. This is also where Sarah Jessica Parker, the actress in Sex and the City, married Matthew Broderick in 1997.

The small interior street between the wings of this U-shaped building was used as the façade of the disused CDC buildings, the U.S. government organization responsible for disease control and prevention. Historically, its abandoned premises have an airtight room. The characters use it to hold Killgrave prisoner, preventing him from using his powers.

When it opened in 1929, the Williamsburgh Savings Bank Tower was the tallest building in Brooklyn (156 m). The place has since been converted into apartments and its magnificent Art-deco hall is used as an event venue. The season’s denouement begins there: the building appears as a marine terminal in which Trish creates a diversion and Kilgrave uses police officers to fight Jessica while he tries to escape. The final scene, supposed to take place just next door on the harbour pier, was shot on the other side of the city, on Pier 88 in Manhattan.

Kilgrave’s Old Loft

The loft where Kilgrave lived when he was with Jessica offers an unbeatable view of the Brooklyn Bridge. It was here that he left the young woman out of his psychological grip for 18 seconds and she did nothing, due to many hesitations. The last apartment seized by the criminal in the last two episodes is located across the bridge, at the top of Tower 270 (80 Chambers St) on Manhattan.

In reality, the map was more traditional, but the establishment closed in 2017.
