John Wick Parabellum: From New York to Morocco
John Wick Parabellum: New York City
Filmed in New York City in the middle of a torrential rainstorm, Keanu Reeves runs through the streets of Chinatown and more precisely in front of the Chinatown Gift Center located at 55 Mott Street.
In addition to Chinatown, the action of this feature film takes the dreaded John Wick to the New York Public Library, Liberty Park, Times Square, under the aerial subway, Grand Central Station and the Brooklyn Bridge, which has already appeared in previous installments.
The production doesn’t stop at the Big Apple as part of the action was filmed in Morocco.
John Wick Parabellum: Morocco
Morocco is therefore part of John Wick Parabellum‘s landscape. The sand dunes or the typical city of Essaouira serve as a backdrop for the film.
However, the filming was relatively stressful and disturbed by the presence of cats. Thousands of cats roam the streets of the city. Apart from the fact that the technical team built huge walls and small houses to encourage them to go elsewhere than on the set while taking care of the animals’ welfare, the two Belgian Malinois shepherds that Sofia (Halle Berry) uses to hunt down an army of killers were well aware of the presence of the felines and were therefore not very concentrated for the shooting. Chad Stahelski confided that the cats had a steely temperament because they were absolutely not afraid of these two powerful canines and had fun provoking them. A complication that caused a delay, but which the director still found amusing.
