Waterfalls
The sequence of Gray (Ty Simpkins) and Zach (Nick Robinson) jumping into the waterfalls is one of the most spectacular in Jurassic World. Featuring the indominus rex, the new dinosaur, it illustrates the talent of Industrial Light and Magic’s craftsmen.
Founded in 1975 by George Lucas when he started working on the first part of the Star Wars saga, Industrial Light and Magic has worked on all the Jurassic Park films, designing the digital images. Having taken advantage of the great evolutions in technology since 1993 and the release of the first part, the magicians of ILM have also collaborated, as before, with the artists of Legacy Effects.
Legacy Effects is the brainchild of Lindsay Macgowan, Shane Mahan, John Rosengrant and Alan Scott, former special effects specialists trained by Stan Winston, the legendary creator of the dinosaurs in the Jurassic Park trilogy. Having planned to work on the fourth part, the animatronics specialist unfortunately died in 2008. His work is nevertheless present in Jurassic World through the legacy he left to his former collaborators. The producers and director Colin Trevorrow also wanted to name one of the park’s restaurants after the special effects legend.
With $524.4 million earned in its first weekend of release, Jurassic World had the best start ever.
Manoa Falls
With a height of more than 45 meters high, these waterfalls are among the most famous in the Hawaiian archipelago.
In the heart of the island of Oahu, in Honolulu, the Manoa Falls flow into a small basin, in the heart of a tropical rainforest. Known for its high rainfall, the region is particularly fertile. Despite everything, the site is strongly discouraged for swimming due to occasional rockfalls and the presence in the water of a bacterium that can cause leptospirosis. The waterfalls have also been the scene of several accidents.
