Waterfall

Movie The Lost City Aaron Nee and Adam Nee (2022)
Loretta Sage (Sandra Bullock) and Alan Caprison (Channing Tatum) try to escape from their pursuers. Lost in the jungle, they arrive at the level of the waterfall where cryptic inscriptions are supposed to indicate the location of the lost city.

“I’m going to rescue her! I just want her to think of me as more than a cover mom”

Alan Caprison (Channing Tatum)

If the island on which the lost city is located is never named in the script, the characters just indicating that it is in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, the shooting took place in the national park Los Haitises in the bay of San Lorenzo, in the Dominican Republic. A heavenly place made up of karst limestone rocks, mangrove forests and subtropical jungles.

This is where directors Aaron Nee and Adam Nee found the waterfall where the hieroglyphs are inscribed that Loretta Sage (Sandra Bullock) deciphers to find the location of the lost city. A place that the production did not have to modify except to affix on the rock the false inscriptions. Already exploited by the Pirates of the Caribbean saga and The Godfather, the Dominican Republic offers incredible natural scenery and is very accessible to filming.

It was not expected that Brad Pitt would participate in the The Lost City. It was when his hairdresser told him about the project, confiding that she thought he would be perfect in the role of Jack Trainer, a kind of super adventurer without fear or blame, that the actor finally agreed to make an appearance. Funnily enough, it’s his voice that we hear first, like in Fight Club. For his first appearance, his character eats. A small nod to his role in the saga Ocean’s Eleven by Steven Soderbergh.

Natural Monument Salto De Socoa

Often cited among the most beautiful waterfalls in the Dominican Republic, the Salto de Socoa is located just forty minutes from Santo Domingo.

It is on the road to Parque Nacional Los Haitises, in the village of Bayaguana, that the superb waterfall of Salto de Socoa is located. Attracting many tourists, it stands in the middle of a tropical jungle and gives birth to a magnificent natural swimming pool. Open to hikers, the site is full of many animal and plant species. The waterfall, very romantic, is famous for being the scene of regular marriage proposals.
